Dear Loyal Readers and Friends of Darius -
It is with great sadness that I am posting on Darius' behalf. At 10:13am on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, Darius took her last breath and left this world. As you know from following her blog, she was a passionate, multi-talented and multi-faceted woman. I knew her for 30+ years as my beloved Aunt Donna.
There are no words to fill the void that she has left in my heart and in this world. She was always just passing through, soaking in as much experience in this world as she possibly could, and sharing every ounce of her knowledge and perspective with anyone who wanted to partake.
I hope that she has blessed your life as she has mine, from this, her little corner of the world wide web.
Thank you for sharing and supporting my wonderful Aunt.
Shawnee R.
Shawnee,
ReplyDeleteOur thoughts and prayers go out to you and your mom. I'm so sorry to hear of Donna's passing, but may she finally rest in peace!

Shawnee, thank you for letting us know that Darius is gone from our world. What a loss for us all. You must have loved her very much and gained so much from knowing her. All of us did. Bless you.
ReplyDeleteI am deeply saddened to hear she is gone. I loved finding a new post of hers, as they were so carefully researched. She will be sorely missed. My condolences to you and the family.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting and letting us know.
ReplyDeleteI first "met" Darius on the cheese forum and then began reading her blog here and have enjoyed her "online friendship" so much.
We had many of the same interests and she helped with getting the research together in one place so wonderfully.
My condolences and heart-felt prayers for your family. I will never forget her.
Note: If you have access to her email you can reach me at the sstrantz....... address. I would love to communicate with you regarding the arrangements.
Also - I am hoping you will have blogspot memorialize her blog so that it does not go away.
God's blessings to you all.
With a heavy heart I wish you and your family condolences. I so enjoyed this blog and your loss feels like my own. I cannot imagine how enriched your life was for having her because she truly touched mine , a stranger through the passions she shared on her blog. I am so sorry. Prayers, love and light. ~ Alisa
ReplyDeleteShawnee, thank you so much for posting. Darius was very speical to me and will be dearly missed.
ReplyDeleteShe answered EVERY email and we discussed much. I read everything she posted at davesgarden.com and saved so many of her posts here. As she loved learning; she shared all freely. Every post and email was spelled and punctuated justly. Her perfectionism improved communications over the too often slang of the Internet and email. I learned much as her posts became fewer and farther between. Thank you, God bless you Darius! Peace to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteShawnee, thank you for the announcement. I will continue to think of her daily.
My deepest & most heartfelt condolences to you & the rest of Darius' 'tribe'. Thank you for letting us know she has made the great transition; I will be sending prayers her way to support an abundant & fortunate rebirth.
ReplyDeleteI have followed Darius' blog for many years, always stimulating & thought-provoking, often delightful, full of the joy of discovery & life. I have valued her preparedness explorations & insight into other ways of thinking about the world. I will miss her very much.
Blessings to all on the journey.
She was so very special and I will miss her.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers go out to the family. She was a treasure.
Shawnee deepest HUGS to you and your Family.
ReplyDeleteI've been Blessed by knowing Darius for about 12 years from Dave's.
We were lucky enough to spend some time with her a few years back and I treasure that memory. There wasn't a topic she didn't enjoy discussing.
She was a Force of Nature and the world is greatly diminished by her passing.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I very much appreciate that you took the time to write a beautiful update. I recently discovered this blog and have enjoyed it greatly. RIP. Darius.
ReplyDeleteShawnee, I would also like to extend my condolences. I first encountered your aunt on Dave's Garden and was impressed with her intelligence, her desire to live a better life, and her willingness to share her questions and answers with us. I followed her here to this blog and have enjoyed following her journey.
ReplyDeleteI never met her in person but her life touched my life thousands of miles away. It takes a special kind of person to have that kind of an impact on people and I hope that you and the rest of your family take comfort in knowing that her life was a life well spent.
Darius recently told me I should be her brother. I must say she was the best sister ever I had, that I hadn't ever met. RIP
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Shawnee for your thoughtful update. I've known your aunt for many years and have had long conversations with her. She was a member of Dave's Garden before I was, and a prolific writer and shared so much of her life experiences. I could count on her to write intelligently and we used to tease each other over typos and proper grammar. I will miss her dry wit and depth of knowlege. If anyone hasn't told you, she thought your little guy was just the cutest kid ever, and shared his pictures with us. We had to agree. I'm so sorry for your loss. Do you know if any arrangements were made for Shug, her kitty?
