Worst Foods for O-6 to O-3 Ratios

Worst foods for high Omega-6 and low Omega-3. This does not mean that these foods are not healthy, but rather it means you need to eat a lot more high Omega-3 foods to help balance it out.

For my own diet, I eat almost none of the high O-6 foods, although carrots, sweet potatoes and some of the fruits are often included on my diet, especially fruits in the summer time. I succumb to grits (shrimp and grits) occasionally, and I love hummus (which is made with chick peas) although I eat a lot less of it anymore.

  1. Most of what I eat on that list was the veggies, and a few avocados and peaches. I was wondering about the ketchup. Is it because the tomato was on the list, or because commercially made has corn syrup?

Also I noticed canned peaches were on the ok list, but apparently fresh peaches aren't ok? What about fresh frozen peaches w/o any sweetener? (That's what mine are.)

This is info for thought. Thanks for posting it all.

    1. Sorry, that's all the info I could find without writing a book.

I don't know why canned peaches are okay if drained, but not fresh peaches. Cooking in syrup must somehow alter the O-6. I would guess frozen have the same profile as fresh peaches.

  2. Now I think on it, heat destroys some of these oils, so the processed peaches would be ok, if that's the case. Freezing would not destroy the oils, I don't think, so I bet you are correct.
