The War on Front Yards

Can you believe this gorgeous vegetable garden in Quebec is illegal? The owners have until July 24th to dismantle it or face legal action.

Something is very wrong in the world when crappy foods and hunger abound, and yet this kind of thing is allowed to happen.

    1. Yep, I don't understand WHY we cannot all get along. After all, we are all just passengers on Spaceship Earth... we're all in this together.

    2. Hey, you ain't seen nothing 'til you've seen someone walking around with a yardstick and a clipboard making sure everyone's grass is less than 6 inches tall....

  2. I'm rather envious of the critical thinking skills involved in getting that kind of production and variety in a relatively small space. I applaud this creation and suggest it be considered inspirational. At least where it is not illegal. That's just nuts.

  3. It's always darkest before dawn? I hope we are at the bottom of our current insanity . . . but so far, every time I think it can't get any worse, it does.

  4. Too bad HOA's are not into edible landscaping, it's a shame. We bought a 40 year-old house in 2004 knowing we would never be able to get along with those people coming around with clipboards. How about the one that made someone paint their gravel lawn with green spray paint because everyone's lawn has to be green? Ye gads!

Someone else had a satellite dish that looked like a patio umbrella. Now, patio umbrella's are okay, but not sat dishes. The homeowner had to remove the sat dish even though it looked like a piece of furniture that *is* allowed. No sense those people, no sense at all.

  5. I'm not up in Canada but here in the states and we had something like that go on with a lady and her herbs in her front yard and I have an odd sense when it comes to what a city will do.I PERSONALLY think that the reason why a city does this is to keep people buying food from the stores by not allowing them to have a garden.I also think the so called ordinances are a crock of you know what. They don't get revenue from free food.My opinion and I'm stickin to it!lol
